Benefits of New Dashboards
Often boat owners are confronted with the gigantic holes left behind by old equipment when updating outdated electronics. Chart plotters, VHF radios, gauges, & stereo systems are constantly becoming more capable and user friendly which means they get upgraded more frequently. There are a few approaches to fixing the holes left behind by old equipment; the best option is build a new dashboard for your boat. This is a cost effective way to add style and resale value to your craft. Most of our dashboards are sold to customers that are either upgrading electronics, repowering, or repairing previous shoddy work on their console.
-Style: Making your boat look better than it did from the factory!
The hull you have from the 90’s is still solid, but that cheap ABS dash design probably isn’t as cool as it once was back then. One common feature of our services is creating new dashboards that expand upon the original design to incorporate items that were previously separate components. An example of this is incorporating the ignition switches into a dash panel that previously had a manufacturers ignition plate screwed to it. We can take this dash, cut out gauge holes, ignition holes, engrave a switch positions right in the dashboard material. This gives you a look that is sleek and looks like it rolled out of the factory. Not only can we do that, we can engrave logos directly on the material. We can also create backlit panels with logos on them to create a truly custom look.
- Value: Increase your boat’s resale value.
There is no faster way to limit the resale value of your boat than having a piecemeal or ugly dash. The helm is the focal point of your craft. We have found some of our customers can replace a dash and significantly increase the sale price of their boat. This also helps you create the look that the boat is maintained better, there will be fewer electrical issues, and your boat is better than the other boats with outdated, UV damaged, and ugly consoles. Some of our customers can tack on thousands to the resale price of their boat… and sell it faster. Of course this is boat dependent, but is a great way to get your boat back in shape and modernize it.
